Synopsis for "Survivor"
During their time in the Greenery, Jazz dove into a river where Jack was swimming and shared a kiss with him before David interrupted them. Jack became jealous seeing David talk to Jazz and told Nathan that he liked her as a tomboy. Nathan assured Jack that David was no threat and that he and Jazz were meant for each other. However, David made advances on her and while doing so, she noticed that his fingers were getting stiff, as if they were fusing together.
In the present, David revealed that he did not know how he got to the facility and that he was not responsible for the pile of skeletons. Back in Climax, the squad of police cars drove past the motel. However, Tony suspected that they could be after Jazz and Bethany, instead.
When Hilltop returned to his home, he told Amanda that Pressman had been killed and that the president had offered him to the position of vice-president.
In the past, the Next Men confronted David about his signs of reaching, but he denied it and provoked Jack, who defeated him in a fight and badly injured him before he vanished in Jazz's arms. David revealed that afterwards, he woke up next to a pile of skeletons and was sprayed with acid that resulted in his skin turning green. He managed to escape the tunnels, but returned after knowing that his appearance frightened people. Bethany and Jazz feared that they, along with Jack, Nathan, and Danny, could change the same way as David and sought to warn them.
While Sheriff Wyatt Coffey made arrests outside of the burning Hoagy's Hog Heaven, he learned that Bethany had been there before Tommy informed him of a "bug-eyed critter running in the desert." Then, Coffey and his deputies spotted Bethany, Jazz, and David approaching and opened fire on them. Tony, Ducummen, Nathan, Jack, and Danny heard gunfire and intervened. They saw David and the girls retreat to the hole and Danny followed them there, although the girls rushed out with Danny after David announced his intention to activate the tunnel's explosives.
Eight weeks later, inside of the Oval Office, Ducummen claimed that the Next Men were animal rights activists in a protest that got out of control. Afterwards, Hilltop confronted Ducummen and vowed to "make sure he never gets up again" when he "slips." Ducummen returned to his residence where the Next Men were staying.
