Synopsis for "Old Secrets"
In Brodilovo, Bulgaria, archaeologist Elena was called back to her village of the discovery of a long deceased predator, with a gaping open chest-cavity which as it burst from the inside.
Elena returns to her former parish, the Church of St. George, where the predator was found, and meets the Dobre. The Dobre knows why she came and explains what he knows about the predator from the story of Saint George and why his church was built on this very hill.
700 hundred years ago, Saint George, also known as Georgi, came to Brodilovo to convert the village to Christianity. However, he was not aware of a dragon that has been terrorizing the region for generations. The villagers sacrifice their sheep and later women to satisfy the dragon's thirst for blood. It was not pleased and the king's daughter was to be sacrifice. As Saint George was told of this, he witnessed a "ball of fire" erupting from the sky, and crash landed on the village's highest hill. The dragon revealed itself on the hill to come to take the princess. As in the tale, Saint George fought the creature in fierce battle until he kill the dragon with his lance, in so saving the village.
The site of the victory led to the construction of the St. George Church to honor the village's savior. Elena believe the the St. George story may held some truth woven into the legend, but she doesn't believe the entire story. Not knowing of the predator's extraterrestrial origin, Elena states it to be a kind of new species or missing link. She bid goodbye to the Dobre before returning if she finds some answers.
As Elena left, it is indeed there are some truth in the legend that are left purposely in secret. The truth of the Saint George legend is reveal that a predator spaceship crash landed in the village's hill where a single xenomorph was given birth from one of the Predator. The xenmorph was the dragon that terrorized the villagers and was killed by Saint George, with presumably a predator spear gun or similar weapon. Since then a brotherhood, the Brotherhood of Saint George, was created to protect and overwatch the crashed predator spaceship and its unhatched cargo of xenomorph eggs. In which the church's foundation was purposely built on top of the now buried predator ship. For centuries the brotherhood kept the spaceship a secret from mankind.
The Dobre is a member of the brotherhood and has been watching over the predator spaceship, guarding the xenomorph eggs from hatching.
